Polartec® Alpha® Wool - Natural Selection
Natural fibres and technical textiles have developed along very different paths, often solving many of the same problems. Warmth. Moisture management. Temperature regulation. Comfort through changing conditions.
Polartec® Alpha® Wool brings those paths together.
The material combines wool with the open, highly breathable structure of Polartec® Alpha®, creating an active insulation designed around movement and changing levels of output.
For Autumn Winter ’26, we’ve used Alpha Wool to create one of the most technically advanced midlayers in the PMO collection. Click here to explore.
TWO SYSTEMS, ONE MATERIAL
Wool has been part of outdoor clothing for generations. Its natural ability to regulate temperature, manage moisture and retain warmth has made it particularly suited to environments where conditions and activity levels continually change.
Polartec® Alpha® approaches those same requirements through material engineering. Originally developed as an active insulation, its open construction allows airflow through the material while maintaining insulating loft. Heat and moisture can move through the garment as output increases, creating a more adaptable layer for active use.
Alpha Wool integrates wool directly into this structure.
The resulting material carries characteristics from both: the natural properties and hand of wool alongside the lightweight, breathable architecture of Alpha.
THE NEXT ALPHA
Polartec® Alpha® has become increasingly recognisable across performance and outdoor clothing. Alpha Wool represents a new progression of that technology, bringing natural fibre into a material defined by its open construction and active performance.
For AW26, the Polartec® Alpha® Wool Pullover puts that material at the centre of the garment.
The open structure remains visible throughout, giving the piece its distinctive texture while creating a lightweight layer that can function across different temperatures and levels of activity.
PMO is among the first brands to bring this new generation of Alpha Wool to market, continuing our exploration of materials that can expand the role of a single garment.
