AIR IS EVERYTHING - Exploring Toray DOT AIR™

PMO / FABRIC EXPLORATION / TORAY

Ever wished your jacket could just take a breather?

We've all been there. The temperature climbs, the pace picks up and suddenly the layer you needed ten minutes ago feels like the one thing holding you back.

Enter Toray DOT AIR™. A technical fabric designed around a surprisingly simple idea: we just need to breathe.

01 / LET IT BREATHE.

Most technical fabrics are engineered to keep something out. Wind, water, cold.

DOT AIR™ takes a different approach. It's designed to let air in and out. Developed by Japanese textile manufacturer Toray, DOT AIR™ uses a specialised fabric construction with integrated ventilation openings that encourage air to move through the material.

The result is a lightweight, highly breathable textile built for environments where managing heat is just as important as staying protected.

THE CONCEPT / 001

MORE AIR. LESS STUFF.
Engineered ventilation within the textile structure allows air to pass through, encouraging heat and moisture to escape during movement.

02 / THE SCIENCE OF NOTHING.

Look closely.

Those tiny openings in the fabric aren't accidental, they're part of what makes DOT AIR™ work.

By introducing microscopic ventilation openings into the woven structure, Toray creates a material that encourages airflow without requiring heavy, bulky mesh panels throughout the garment.

Pair that with a lightweight construction and mechanical stretch, and you've got a fabric suited to movement, warmer climates and high-output activity. Not a waterproof membrane. Not an insulating fleece. Something designed specifically around breathability.

03 / LESS HEAT. MORE MOVEMENT.

Picture a long summer hike. A humid commute. A climb that starts cool and finishes somewhere considerably warmer. These are the moments when breathability really matters.

DOT AIR™ encourages airflow as you move, helping reduce the build-up of heat and humidity inside your clothing. It's not about creating a temperature-controlled bubble. It's about giving your body a little more room to breathe.

04 / MADE TO MOVE.

We've introduced Toray DOT AIR™ across three PMO designs, each exploring the technology in a different way. The DASE Jacket combines a loose, boxy silhouette with ergonomic gusseted arms and ventilated mesh zip pockets.

The DASE Shirt takes the same breathable fabric into a short-sleeved design, finished with branded poppers and considered utility detailing. Even our Tech Air Cap gets involved, combining DOT AIR™ with ventilated side panels and a quick-release adjustment.

Three approaches. One idea. Keep the air moving.
