Richmond Park : PMO EXPLORERS 005

It’s not just about the distance covered, it’s about the space we create.
At Purple Mountain Observatory, our community hikes are a place to slow down, to listen and to reconnect with people. Having just completed our second one of the year, it seemed a great time to reflect on what we’re actually trying to accomplish.
Despite being brand related, the hikes always feel a lot more than that. We bring together individuals from all walks of life with a shared curiosity for the outdoors. It reminds us that sometimes we don’t need bold logos to build a community, sometimes you just need a space which can energise and remind people of what matters. And the outdoors definitely does that.
The spaces we choose have tended to be in and around London, Richmond Park, Epping Forest, The Chilterns, all well within an hour of a main station here. The idea is to pull people out of the mindset of London just being a city, which it is, but bring them into thinking about the green spaces which are also situated here.

Since starting PMO EXPLORERS, we’ve had great feedback on the results. Not just from people on the walks, but also those who have simply been encouraged to get out. They haven’t been able to make one of ours, so instead they make their own. We’ve encouraged someone to go out and do it. And that to us is a massive win.
So the next time you’re not too sure what to do with your day, step outside. Who knows what you might see…
Keep an eye on socials for the next one! Till next time!
