The 3L Hardshell has been with us since the early days of PMO, a reinterpretation of the classic waterproof. After years of experience in the field, we recognised the need for change: unflattering silhouettes, outdated colour palettes, poor breathability, the list went on. Our goal was simple: to build a waterproof we could truly rely on, one that performs in all conditions and looks just as considered in the city as it does on the trail.

Constructed from a 3-Layer Performance Fabric, the jacket combines a water-repellent nylon outer, breathable laminated membrane, and protective polyester base. With a 10,000mm waterproof rating and 5,000g/m² breathability, the 3L Hardshell achieves the perfect balance of protection and comfort, engineered for unpredictable weather and versatile environments.

Layering Guide

The 3L Hardshell is designed as an outer protection layer within a modular system, adapting easily to different climates and activities:

• City Wear: Layer over a Polartec or Waffle Crew for lightweight, breathable protection during daily commutes or unpredictable weather.
• Hiking & Outdoor Use: Combine with a PMO Fleece or Alpha Insulation Layer for warmth, and a moisture-wicking base beneath.
• Cold Weather & Skiing: Use as the shell layer in a full system — over our lighter down jackets for insulation, with a thermal base layer for comfort and moisture control. The 3L construction ensures wind and snow resistance while remaining breathable.

Seasonal Graphic

Each season, the Hardshell carries a PMO-exclusive graphic inspired by the natural world. For AW25, our ‘Frosted Floral’ design emerged during the development of a store set, where light passing through frosted perspex transformed textures into something new. That same visual distortion became the basis for the graphic, bridging material experimentation with garment design.
